Good thing I got paid

Remember that shopping I was going to do a few weekends ago and buy socks?? Hahaha well, I finally went yesterday! Talk about procrastination!

Oh, and I didn't buy socks.

I picked myself up a pair of jeans and khakis from Old Navy, and then while puttering in Southgate with mom and Devin for some clothes, we went to Foot Locker and saw some basic t-shirts on sale. Hahaha Foot Locker...a stop for gym shorts for Devin turned out to be a Costcoesque purchase as we bought 10 shirts for my whole family for $60. Then mom and I went to La Senza for some underwear (mom had a free bra coupon...thanks PRi). Dad then went today to Rona to put a down payment on a new patio door that is being ordered. I guess you would say that my family has been on a spending spree this weekend. Not too unusual for some of you but for my family....our idea of a shopping spree is me going to Boxing week sales with gift certificates. Oh, except for when we sold our snowmobile and bought a new microwave and dishwasher on the actual "Boxing Day" hahaha we beat the crowds at Leon's.

I have now decided that even though I desperately needed some new clothes, I have again spent waaayyy too much money. But that is usual for me. I am always thinking I spend way too much money, even when I buy lunch. Oh well. I have been trying to save my money as much as possible....but August is tough. Devin will be going into grade 10 this year....so above all the extra school fees that come with high school, there was a graphing calculator to buy....and of course more clothes....he is in grade 10 after all. But mom and I have shared the cost of such items, so my budget has not been....well....a budget.

Then I went and made an optomitrist appointment for Thursday....there goes another $250 worth of eye exams and contact lenses thank you very much for privitization Ralph. Have I mentioned that my RN license needs renewal in September? Goodbye $381.60!

Anywho I have to get going...I need to buy some groceries for work and some sour cream for BBQ potatoes for tonight that I forgot to pick up while shopping.....then fill my car up with gas.

Now where did my wallet go???????

counting

Six more shifts at the Alex to go....

Six more shifts at the Alex...

Take one down, pass it around.... have a Smirnoff ice rasberry after getting home...

Five more shifts at the Alex to go.....

I broke up with my Finance Manager

So last night, at work, I was standing by the door and these customers storm up to me. The shove a piece of paper in my hand and tell me to sell them that car. Well, I'm looking at the numbers and they don't look like our stock numbers, so I ask him to show me the car. Turns out it's a truck, and it's been sold. The spec sheet on it is in French and lo and behold, the stock number isn't one of ours. Well, he wants it anyways, so I tell him, that we can get one for him from Calgary, all we need is a $500 deposit. He says to his wife "gimme my checkbook"
Sold. 10 minutes tops.

This morning I get to work and go upstairs to the Buisness Development Centre where we answer all the sales calls and internet quotes. I get a call from a doctor, he wants a 2006 V6 4Runner Limited. He doesn't know what colour he wants, so I tell him that I like Blue. He says "Oh I like that one. I'll take it." I tell him we'll get one from Calgary, all we need is a $500 deposit. He says "My VISA number is...."
Sold. I didn't even get to finish my banana bread.

The Tacoma from yesterday rounds out at $25,000 and the 4Runner from today comes out at $58,000.
I just sold $83,000 worth of stuff in 20 minutes.

So I brought both deals to my favorite finance manager, Milan. He's cute, funny, smart, and he's good at keeping the sales staff updated on deals. So in an update today, I apparently was flustered and started with the whole "not finishing sentences and making choppy statements, only to finish previous statements in totally unrelated conversations" like I do when I'm flustered. He makes notice of this and I tell him it's because I'm flustered. He goes "Oh it must be me" and I said, "It's not me, it's you. I think we should see other finance managers." To which he says, "You know what I like about you Priscilla?"
I know what's coming
"Absolutely nothing" we say together

it's a bird...it's a plane...no, it's my podium

Holy holes in my updates Batman!

So I may not have not been the best at keeping people posted on what happens in my life.... oh well. I thought I should update anyways, seeing as how I have just now caught up on my blog reading, and found that everyone I know has fun, interesting, surprising, and wonderful things happening to them... (Jo I am so excited you are FINALLY moving! Now I will have to come visit you in your new place!!!)

As for me, I promised at least two updates. First, my door. Funny story......the day after I posted about my "new" back door, we went to Rona and refunded the door that won't fit. Apparently the prospect of finding a door that would ultimately cost way less than what we were going to be charged was a little more appealing. So no new door. *sigh* Second......my dog. I think we have solved the mystery of Bear's insaneness. We have discovered an ant hill in our backyard that he was interested in, and I guess an ant bit him. He steered clear of that area for a while, and is now back to his usual self...and barking.

Hahahaha is that all I have?? Hmm.....well, there's just some random stuff I guess. I will be starting my OR training in October for Cesarean sections......I will be quitting from the Royal Alex after my last shift in September:):):) I am still somewhat looking for a place to move into, and now I am approved for a line of credit at my bank....yay for a down payment!

Uhhh....I can't remember anything else. Oops! Maybe there isn't anything else. I dunno. Things are pretty hectic at work for me right now.....any time I have been at home, I have been absolutely exhausted. Working 19 days out of 21 is tough, so lately I haven't really been able to pay attention to anything. This weekend marks the beginning of the last of my shifts at the Alex, and I have been asked multiple times to work double shifts....then another double shift...because they can't find anyone to work. There is so much burnout right now with all the nurses, I'm not surprised there isn't anyone left to work. I am practically working overtime at the 'Nuns, nevermind picking up shifts at the Alex. So all in all, I have absolutely nothing else going on with me. And now I have spent 3 paragraphs talking about nothing at all....nothing at all....nothing at all...stupid sexy Flanders!

Hopefully when things settle down, I will have more interesting updates. But for now.....*sigh* I think it may be bedtime.

My aunt thinks my boyfriend is hot

So it's my grandma's 85th birthday today. Whoo! Go grandma! So my aunt from Vancouver is in today with her husband to help celebrate. I mean, eat food. So I had my camera handy for birthday cake-inspired pictures today, even I had it with me at work today at the BBQ. Since there have been requests to see JC, I got a pic during the BBQ. He hates the fact that he's in his coveralls, but hey, he's a mechanic, and I like my grease monkey.

So I'm off to throw up some chinese food.

Quiz from Jo's blog

Okay, I tried doing this after I saw Jo's, but mine didn't work out as cool as hers.

Snowball 154

2. YOUR MOVIE STAR NAME: (grandfather/grandmother on your mom's side, your favourite candy)

Waiman Skittles

3. YOUR "FLY GIRL/GUY" NAME: (first initial of first name, first two or three letters of your middle name)

P El or P Yee depending if you use Elaine or Yee-Nei

4. YOUR DETECTIVE NAME: (favourite colour, favourite animal)

Blue Pig

Ieneey Nahc or Eniale Nahc

8. SUPERHERO NAME: (your favourite colour, favourite drink)

Blue Malibu (mm... malibu.... coconutty...)

uh... right. well, that's what you get for trying. FAILURE!!! SHAME!!!!!

on another note, I didnt' write this on the blog yet, but last monday Stewie got his foot caught on the top of his cage and was found hanging upside down. I was beside myself. I was so useless, I had to get Hubert to drive me to the vet. $275 later and 3 x-rays later, he's okay. He has anti-imflammatories and pain killers that smell like honey. Mm... drugs. He had been dragging his leg behind him, but now he's getting better. He can wash his face without falling over, and he's stopped moping. He's okay now. I'm glad.

I'm back!

So I don't know what happened, I shut off my computer the other day and then it wouldn't recognize the wireless signal coming from my mom's basement which is.... 10 ft away... Odd. So since Hubert is in town, he took it, didn't do anything with it, and then it started working. Grr.. stupid PRi... Buhluhluhluhluh

Anyways, I have some rather big news... As of last week thursday, I have officially crossed over to the dark side... steady dating.... Yes, this coming from PRi whose last boyfriend was Bryan... need I say more? well, I might, for people who didn't know who Bryan was. He was a wuss, had no balls (not literally of course you sicko) and cried when I broke up with him. I had been happily single ever since, but lo and behold, from under my nose, JC appeared into my life and it's been bliss. Hoser just found out and he tried to be happy for me. SOL for him tho. Hoser is nothing compared to JC. I could not have imagined anyone like JC. He's got a heart of gold, he's hot (great hair and arms), and a kid to die for. Yeah, this is definately new territory for me. I've never dated anyone with a kid before. I don't know what the protocol is, but I'll take it a day at a time. 'Sides, I've never felt this way about anyone before, it's just a bonus I like his kid. He's french... RRrrroww... have I said that he has great arms? he's got great arms.

So that's what's new. Now I need to go to bed, this is the first time in more than a week that I've had Internet, so I've had a billion emails to read. Now sleep.

Mission improbable

For over a year I haven't been able to properly lock my back door. The screen locks, but the actual sliding glass door does not lock.....maybe because the locking apparatus is not attached to the door! I think it fell off last year sometime.....right now there is a block of wood replacing the old lock....with a new lock semi-attached to it....but the block is barely hanging on the door by one screw. Hahaha. Not exactly the safest when you live in Millwoods hahaha. We have tried absolutely everything to attach a new lock....fix the old lock....fix the new lock....

When my grandma was visiting a few weeks ago, she decided she had enough of a non-locking back door. Since a new door was not in my family's budget, she graciously helped us out a little by taking a trip to our friendly neighbourhood Rona and buying a patio door. Thanks grandma!

Anywho, the Rona people came by earlier this evening to measure out the dimensions to see if the door we had bought will actually fit. Turns out, Rona has to "special order" a door because "the doorway is bigger" than they thought. Boo. The quote for installation has gone from $300 to $800 for some reason......and it will be weeks before the new door comes in. Good thing it is August I guess, and it is raining and not snowing.

So this whole door thing reminds me of Mission: Impossible...which I happen to be watching.....oops! "Toast.....toast....." The list is in the open!!! Hahaha too bad Tom Cruise is nuts....

Let's hope in a couple of weeks, Blogger will let me post a pic of my new door! Stupid pictures....
Hmmm...I guess that is what is new with me. Pretty exciting! Doors! Also, Bear was acting strange yesterday....we thought it might have been the heat (it was 32 degrees) but he didn't leave his cage yesterday. Usually when it is hot outside, he'll sleep by the fireplace, or sprawled out on the kitchen floor. And he'll drink water. Yesterday, he didn't even come to the door when my mom and I got home. Pretty unusual, PRi can vouch for that. Oh, and he spontaneously yelped a couple of times, and I don't know what he was doing to yelp like that. Kinda scary, and I was hoping I didn't need to take him to the vet or anything. I couldn't get him to go outside to pee, let alone take him to the vet. But this afternoon when I came home from work, he was looking out the living room window and barking at me. It was good to see him, I must say.

So that's about it. Hopefully I will have some happy updates for you soon about a happy puppy and a happy family with a locking back door!

I've been summoned, and car terms are dirty

Long weekends are not appropriate times to buy a car. A day off, a weeknight, even a Saturday when you and your family can view, drive and purchase a vehicle are all good times. Not when the call of Heritage-type activities, camping trips and general bumming around is oh-so tempting. Needless to say, it was DEAD at the dealership. We ended up with a few deals on the board, but none of them belonging to me. alas, 4:00pm rolls around and I see Shahzina come up with her 2006 Corolla S Sport Package in Indigo Ink and she says "you know the car accident 2 years ago to [my sister Sharina] had?" I acknowledge. "We're being sued." Turns out Sharina's former best friend is suing Sharina, Shahzina as "owner of the vehicle" and the driver, passenger and owner of the dakota that plowed into them. oh wait, yeah, she suing for half a mil. She's claiming permanent scarring, inability to dance, and inabilty to perform housework. Wait, the permanent scarring is from your history of depression, we have video of you dancing 2 months after the accident and you would have to have done housework to be able to claim that the accident was what is stopping you from cleaning after yourself you lazy bag.

We're not too worried about the case, but still, ouch from a former best friend.

On a completely different note, let me retell a conversation heard earlier today.

"Oh yeah, this one's a nice unit. The engine runs real nice and it's been taken very good care of."
"Yeah? and what kind of mileage does it have"
"well, it's got some miles on it, but a unit like this will last you a while"
"Oh okay. Well, it looks good, but it's too big. For what I need, I think I can go smaller."
"Honestly, it's filled all the criteria you were looking to fill."
"I guess you're right, but I don't know, what about maintenance? I'll need to take extra care of it, right?"
"Yes, but we also have a oil and lube program so we'll take care of all the oil and lube it needs for the next 7 years."
"Wow, I'm not even sure I'm going to keep it that long."
"It's a good offer. You should take advantage of it."
"It all sounds good. so will I get a deal if I get my servicing done here?"
"The oil program will apply."
"Oh I see how it goes. I guess it'll do. It's basically what I need."
"So you're going to go ahead with this unit?"
"Yeah, I will"

Uh... I'm going to go read my Bible now.

Procrastinating on my shopping

Mom, Devin, and I went out for breakfast this morning. Just to Denny's, but breakfast nonetheless. I had to go back to work afterwards to talk with my clinical nurse educator, but more on that later....
Anywho, I got home from Denny's and there was a piece of mail waiting for me on the kitchen table.......the new IKEA catalogue!!! Weee!!! PRi and I have been looking for a couple of weeks for this catalogue...including a trip to IKEA for that sole purpose. Hahaha PRi, we can share the catalogue, if you haven't gotten yours yet.

So yeah. I have been kinda flipping through for some ideas on what I may want to buy in the near future. You see, I am trying to save up to buy a condo...if possible. As a self-proclaimed procrastinator, I always plan....but then actually do what I plan at the last minute. I am not sure if I will be able to procrastinate with a lot of things when it comes time to buy a place. Having an idea of what I need (not just in financial terms) and what I already have will help in the end, I guess. I also don't want to spend all my money on stuff and have nothing left to buy a place to put it in.....therefore, I need to plan. I love to be spontaneous (ummm....Vegas??) but with a major purchase, I can't afford to spontaneously buy random things and then try to spontaneously buy a condo.

Oh well.

On a lighter note...hahaha.....I was at work yesterday when the paystubs arrived.....I was pretty excited, as I was going to go shopping this weekend. Then I realized that my paycheck was almost $650 less than I expected! Boo! No shopping for Morgo......
So I went home all disappointed and such, and decided to take another look at my calendar. Wait a second.......I am missing 4 shifts!!!!! Waaa!! A stop to see my CNE this morning sorted everything out. She had been in charge of payroll during the last couple of weeks, cuz my manager (who usually takes care of these things) has been on holidays. So a visit with my CNE, and a phone call to payroll resulted in me being able to pick up my missing money on Tuesday:)

So now I am not so disappointed...despite the cold and rain.....and maybe a stop to IKEA should be in order to cheer me up even more hahahaha
mmmm.......storage.....

... has anyone seen my guitar?

So I had a thought the other day. I lent my guitar to scary Dan, big white guy who I call my brother? plays sax and mostly does world music? anyways, so he has my guitar and last I heard he was in Lebanon... I don't know if he's still there, if he's okay, and still has my guitar. So since I was "campfire lady" all this week at camp, I decided to buy a guitar. Especially since my guitar may or may not be in Lebanon. I bought an Alvarez guitar with a half-decent pickup so that I can plug it in if I so desire. The funny thing is that I can now plug it into my computer and record some half-assed "Tears in Heaven" or what's supposed to sound like "When September Ends" or maybe "Stacey's Mom"

Your mom!

I just got home from my last campfire and I smell like a pyromaniac. There were so many little flies out there, one landed in my eye, I blinked and killed it. Yes, I blinked a fly to death. Them's mad skills. I think I'm going to shower now.

Not the most wonderful time...

Sometimes I feel like I have missed out on most of the nice weather over the past couple of weeks. I have been working as usual, and now with my shifts spacing out a bit, I have been able to see the sun......most of the time. It has been pretty rainy lately. Don't get me wrong....we needed the rain...and the occasional thunderstorm makes me smile:)
But where have all the warm temperatures gone?? Fiz I am almost jealous of you in TO with the hot weather......except the humidity. Could you imagine my hair???

But seriously folks......

People with curly hair should not live in Toronto. Even though it is dry, my hair does better in dry weather. Like Vegas. I think by now Jo must be enjoying the weather in Las Vegas....or at least the air conditioning hahahaha

So yeah and stuff.

What have I been up to lately? Not all that much. I am sitting at the computer listening to the sounds of rain outside and putzing around. I like this putzing around sometimes. You know those days that you just need to take for yourself and do nothing??? I wish today was one of those, hahaha but at least I have this coming long weekend off. Yay! Although time and a half pay for a shift is nice, some down time is nice too. And down time is not taxed a million percent!

I donated to the Cerebral Palsy Association today. They call my place about once every 2-3 months and ask for some donations. My family may not have much, but there is always some knick-knacks lying around, or shoes I no longer wear, or shirts Devin outgrew, or whatever. I thought I had a lot more stuff to get rid of, though, and found that I am in desperate need of shopping for me. Oops! Hahaha maybe next paycheck....wait...I get paid this week hahahaha did I mention I was off this weekend???

On second thought, a long weekend in August spent shopping for clothes may not be the most brilliant idea. I heard the absolute WORST commercial the other day. You know that Christmas song "It's the most wonderful time of the year" that they always play during back to school??? I can't stand that song!!!!! Waaaa!! I love shopping for school supplies for some reason (it's so much fun! I love picking out pens and paper and highlighers and dividers and binders and coloured staplers and pencil crayons and sharpeners and...well you get the picture)...but I hate listening to that song play over and over. Boo. I suppose I may have to face the back to school crowd sooner or later.....this weekend is probably better than the weekend before September!
