Sad to leave

So while everyone was enjoying Mario Tennis and liquid crack (Big Doug4U!!), I had an emergent cesarean section to attend to. Unfortunately I had to leave the homemade salsa and bacardi to come to work...unwillingly might I add....and ended up in a mess of a cesarean section where the mom was bleeding, and the baby is very sick. Not happy.
I have to give big kudos to PRi for putting on a great dinner:):) The salsa and milkshakes were a hit...and so were Janita's chocolates and karaoke. I have been singing Up Town Girl all night. Boo! Hopefully the rest of the night was as fun as the first half. Oh, and by the way....the cork did not snap....it disintegrated!!!! Stupid cork. Well, PRi, I know what I am getting you for your birthday. A corkscrew... and coffee filters!!!

Anywho. A jorb well done. Now if I can only get this song out of my head.....

PRi's Holiday Party

So I'm in the middle of the Holiday Party. For one thing, I have never seen my house this clean AND with me living in it. I'm scared yet impressed. Plus, Morgo-shaped Santa gave me a blender for Christmas, so that was definately used. A lovely chocolate mint milkshake was featured as well as homeade salsa and pina coladas. I however have no clud what I'm going to do with half a bottle of rum. We have witnessed a new way of opening wine bottles. I believe this one employed a power drill...? The cork was decimated not before it snapped a corkscrew. Yes. it SNAPPED a corkscrew. I believe this has only happened once before

Yeah. Anyways, we're going to be doing a MArio Power Tennis tournament. Kareoke Revolution was scary. For one, "Uptown Girl" and "Material Girl" were.... scary. and really freaking funny.

Oh, the insanity!

So after spending a wonderful Christmas with my family and PRi, I came to the conclusion that I must spend some money on myself.......I needed to go Boxing Day shopping!!!

Waa!

OK, so I may just get a little personal here, but what I needed most was a new bra. Three of my old ones all broke within a week of each other, and with the insanity of Christmas, I haven't had the time, desire, or money to shop for myself.....and my back and shoulders have been killing me these last couple of weeks. I decided to brave the Boxing Day shoppers.......at South Edmonton Common.

Waa!

Maybe it was the thought that most of the shoppers will be busying themselves with Best Buy or Wal-mart and the like that kept me going......how wrong I was. Lucky to get a parking space, I walked almost a block to La Senza. After an hour and a half looking for my size, cursing at the many new models that are ideal for B cups or smaller, and finding a fitting room... I finally stood in the mega line to purchase my items. Turns out I had more luck finding pyjamas. But they are oh-so-soft and comfortable!
Alright, so I know that Boxing Day sales turn out to be more like Boxing Week sales, and what I bought today wasn't even on sale to begin with. But I couldn't wait another day.

So this is Christmas

I have the chance to experience Christmas at Morgo's this year. Last year I got to experience part of it, but this year Grandma and Grandpa are here. THIS is Christmas. Cooking for Christmas Eve dinner, Eating Christmas Eve dinner, Running away from the kitchen because there are too many people yelling directions at once, Unwrapping presents that filled the living room, and possibly if I counted the computer chair and brand new dishwasher that weren't in the living room, I don't know if we would have had room for people. There are several things that I got for Christmas. I got socks from Mom and Dad Lavigne, a purse from Grandma and Grandpa, CSI 5 from Mom and Dad Lavigne, Animaniacs vo 2 from Morgan and Devin, All things that are terribly useful to me. The piece de resistance however was the blender I got from Santa. Well, I think it was from a Morgan-shaped Santa. Thanks Morgan-shaped Santa! Now for all who are visiting this Friday, you can sample milkshakes and salsa made with my new blender. That and Mom Lavigne got me a stocking this year as well. That's it, I'm Ukranian. After spending Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa at Morgan's, I have a new appreciation for Christmas. Well, apart from the birth of Jesus and all that. But that happened a while ago. Now I'm looking to the future and I'm looking forward to spending more Ukranian Christmases.

my new baby

My patient had a baby today. There are new students and residents starting this week....a very eager bunch who want to learn and experience all they can. One joined me for the delivery, and was quite excited that I allowed him to be there. It wasn't really up to me....it was up to my patient, who didn't have a problem with an extra face in the room.

A busy day, but a good one nonetheless.

My grandparents came today...they will be here for Christmas this year. They brought the usual ukrainian food, random household items, and of course, my new baby. Well, she's new to me.

Somehow I feel like going on a road trip.....

I need to sell some cars

I mean really, I need to make some money. Do you know anyone buying a car? New? Used? PLEASE!!! I need to sell cars....

Supposably I'm playing a concert in 2 weeks... I think. I haven't met these people yet. But they need a flute player. Hey! I'M a flute player!

I spent 2 days this week at Holy Cross teaching their flutes how to flute. haha, I remember when I was that young. I was egotistical and thought I was hot stuff. Wait, I'm still egotistical and I AM hot stuff...

12 shopping days left

I have been avoiding a lot of things lately. Phone calls from the staffing office at work. Rush hour traffic at south Edm. common. Wal-mart. Shopping for myself. My couch. TV. Opening my bank statement. Basically anything that would distract my procrastinating self from finishing my Christmas shopping. I am nearly done....just three more gifts to buy, which will be done tomorrow....as it's 4:30. Rush hour traffic starts you know.

Technically I should avoid my computer too......

But whatever. What I should be concentrating on doing right now is cleaning up my room. Sounds pretty lame, eh? Oh well. My grandparents are coming in the next week or so for Christmas.....and bringing a "Christmas" gift for me...from me....but more on that later.....:):)

So yeah. I always give up my room while they are here.....along with my semi-broken tv. I think the ghost of Linda Blair came to visit this year at Halloween, cuz my tv in my room seems to turn off by itself from time to time. I dunno. Isn't that my luck, though? First my computer... then my computer, then my car, then my computer, then my hard drive, then my computer. Now my tv. Linda Blair finds my house hospitable I guess. Oh well.

Anywho, I am procrastinating again, so I guess I better go. I can't give up all my vices anyways. I'd be too much in withdrawl!

venting

Busy day today. My feet hurt, and I decided that I am looking forward to nights next week. I came home frustrated. After an hour spent reporting a medication error that three of us missed, we had an emergency cesarean section for a woman who decided she wanted to labour ("cuz only REAL women labour") when she really shouldn't have.... It took the baby 5 minutes to breathe on its own...but she's doing ok now.

Let's just say that there is a reason why babies are rarely delivered breech without c-sections these days...especially if the mom had prior c-sections. Really.

See?
I have to be a responsible nurse and back up my practice with evidence....

So yeah. That's my rant for the day. Not a good day anyways, but at least there was a potluck lunch. Mmmm......food. You would think that the only thing nurses do are rant......and eat.

Getting ready for Christmas

Time for an update I think....

I have been busy...the usual I guess. Work, feeble attempts at Christmas shopping, finally finding winter boots, making my house ready for Santa....et cetera...

PRi came over on Saturday to help put up my Christmas tree.....putting up the tree is a big deal with my family, and seeing as how PRi practically is family, some good times were had. We bought 200 more mini LED lights to add to the 5 strings of lights we already had....(told you we needed them, PRi!!), and added new glass Disney decorations to the already eclectic jumble of things on the tree. I'm happy how it turned out.

No fire in the fireplace, though....we were already watching the fire channel....

So yeah. I also went to PRi's work's Christmas party at the WEM Waterpark yesterday. Good times. Devin and I left a bit early (I am working nights again), but we had fun all the same. Thanks PRi for getting us in. Too bad the hot tub wasn't working properly and there was a lineup for the one that was. I slept good when I got home....nothing like climbing a billion stairs to tire you out when you have only slept for 4 hours.

My legs feel great today, though.
